The World I Saw - by Nishan Wimalachandra

What kind of world do we live? Survival of the fittest? Or someone may say in a world of bare survival. This world is a world of discoveries as well as destructions. As long as we look at the destruction we will not see the discoveries and vice versa. Is it a tragedy that we see destructions more than discoveries? Or is it comforting to the reader to see more of discoveries than destructions? It depends on the person what they like to see in it. This world is going towards a dead end without knowing the existence of mankind and humanity. Anyone is spoken well of and considered faithful if the world sees that individual is trying to protect humanity. But who has truly tried to protect humanity. God in Heaven or Devil in Hell? Or is that power been given to the mortal who thinks himself as a thinking animal? You may never know. It is the influencing factor towards the new ethics and Morals, is still an unsolved question. No one seems to understand what is happening to our world. It is evident that I do exist this way today because of the inventions as well as the discoveries of precious people who are alive today as well as gone.

They have contributed so much to this world, some have given so much of their time so that they lost all the time they could have spent with their families and loved ones. It is a tragedy that these people are forgotten very soon, though their discoveries are called after their name how many of us honor them for what they did to make us think further than we ever thought that we could think in our lives. In order to align with this world we should be able to understand what is our real calling in this earth. If we look at the advancement of communication we tend to believe that everything is possible and we have achieved it all. It is evident that an e-mail or video live mail will help us to communicate with anybody regardless of how far they are. Though the communication technology is so advanced, are we senseless to the cry of our fellow human brothers and sisters. Are we immune to the out cry of little children who need to be comforted by a mother? Well by observing the world as it is what I saw was that there is something unmet, something important. Science boasts about satellite communication but we are unable to understand the cry of humans for love.

World spend so much money on military protection but are unable to fill the starving stomach of little children who die without food. Churches and all the religious organizations talk more about being a help to those who are in need, but who was able to fill the loneliness of mankind? Today world is advanced so that we have forgotten the basic principles of life. We tend to forget that someone is in need every second. Are we less sensitive to the immediate world around us? Are we spending a lot of time to find out the mysteries of the world without finding ourselves? Do we really know us? Do we really know what we need to do to make this world a more happier and healthier place to live? Or are we caught up with the attitude of we will be gone in another fifty or sixty years time and we will have nothing to do ? What I see is there is more to life than that. There is more to our human existence on this earth. Are we ready to understand the truth that there is a greater mystery than just living this life on earth? Life on earth was described by many people who walked on this earth, they saw it in different ways.

Hunters saw that this life is a place you hunt for your food, and to protect yourself at the same time by not being the hunt for someone else. Actors saw this life as a movie which is very real where the deaths are true as well as the tears that follow it. Singers saw this life to be a beautiful song with many tunes which changes fast and makes the song versatile and short. A driver saw this life as something that takes others to where they need to go. Well what is this mystery called life? Is it the same thing we all see or is it a different thing we see as similar? Or are we looking at different things in one point of view and are mistaken, is something which is very difficult to understand. Another may label someone else as a terrorist when he call himself as a freedom fighter. Another comes home after killing a lot of people happily saying that he protected the country, while another kills some innocent people and are labeled as a serial killer. What is this confusion about life? If you even look at the world around, you will see the same thing. And you will agree with me that The World I Saw was a Tragic one, not beautiful.

But keep on thinking to make this a better place - for the most important tasks of humanity are done by everyone. I will live and lead by these principles to advance my convictions with humanity to pursue the public interests with courage, to speak for greater justice with compassion so that the rights of others will be safeguarded. It's your duty as well. Protect our world, or be destroyed by the guards of her boundaries.
